AHR WAS THE DESIGN ARCHITECT FOR THE NEW MULTIFUNCTIONAL ASSEMBLY GOVERNMENT OFFICES IN NORTH WALES. PRIMARILY OCCUPIED BY CIVIL SERVANTS EMPLOYED BY THE ASSEMBLY OR ASSOCIATED BODIES, IT IS ALSO A FOCAL POINT FOR ENQUIRIES FROM MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC WITH REGARDS TO ASSEMBLY BUSINESS.
Designed with reference to a palette of prestigious and durable materials which have a strong association with the history of the region. These include slate quarried on open terraces at Penrhyn and Dinorwig, Copper mining on the Great Orme dating back to the Bronze Age and Oak from the ancient woodlands of North and West Wales.
The BREEAM Excellent rated building was developed to provide a gross internal floor area of 8,400m2 with an open plan floor area to accommodate 650 workstations, reception, meeting rooms, conference facilities, library and breakout areas. It straddles the existing embankment with 2 storey accommodation on the upper terrace and 3 storeys to the lower.
As well as the design architect we provided interior design, workspace consultancy and landscape architecture services on this project.
