We're celebrating two award shortlists at this year's Insider Yorkshire Property Awards

This is a proud moment for our Leeds team. Recognition for both Design Excellence for Rother Valley Country Park and Architectural Practice of the Year, reflects the collective effort of our people and collaborators across the region.
Yorkshire has always been central to our story. With over 150 years of continuous contribution to the built environment, we’re deeply connected to the places and communities we work with.
This shortlist feels particularly meaningful because it celebrates not just individual projects, but a shared ambition to shape a healthier, more sustainable and better connected region.
Design Excellence
At the heart of this recognition is Rother Valley Country Park Visitor Centre. Delivered in partnership with Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council, the project is a clear example of what can be achieved through collaboration, creativity and commercial rigour.
Set within one of Yorkshire’s most cherished landscapes, the building reimagines the park’s central hub as a welcoming, pedestrian-first ‘village centre’ that reconnects people with the waterfront.
The project was technically complex from the outset. Built on a former opencast mining site, it required engineered piled foundations and careful environmental management.
At the same time, we were working on a live site with ongoing public use, which demanded thoughtful coordination and clear communication across the whole team.
Despite these challenges, the scheme was delivered on time and within a tightly controlled £5.5m budget. The result is a building that achieves an EPC A rating, integrates renewable technologies including photovoltaic panels and air-source heat pumps and generates £8.9m in social value for the local community.
More importantly, it has created a place that encourages people to spend time outdoors, connect with nature and support their wellbeing. That is what design excellence means to us. It’s not just about how a building looks, but how it performs, how it feels and the positive impact it has on everyday lives.
Rother Valley Country ParkArchitectural Practice of the Year
From repurposing the Grade II listed Old Medical School into a Health Innovation Hub in Leeds, to the sensitive redevelopment of Huddersfield’s Grade II* George Hotel, we’re committed to unlocking the potential of existing buildings through sustainable retrofit and reuse.
Our work in healthcare and research is also helping to shape the future of the region. At the University of Huddersfield’s National Health Innovation Campus, we’re delivering pioneering facilities including the Emily Siddon Building, designed to WELL Platinum standards.
This project brings together education, clinical services and research in a single environment, supporting early intervention and helping to address regional health inequalities.
What underpins all of this is partnership. Our long-standing relationship with Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council is a great example of how a framework approach can deliver consistent, high quality outcomes across a borough. From markets and housing to heritage and public spaces, it shows how strategic collaboration can unlock long-term value.
We’re also actively involved in shaping the wider conversation across the region, contributing to groups such as the Leeds Property and Economic Forum, Leeds Climate Coalition and the West Yorkshire Combined Authority Nature Recovery Strategy Expert Panel. These platforms allow us to share insight, challenge thinking and support informed decision-making at a regional level.
Ultimately, this shortlist belongs to our clients and project teams as much as it does to us. Their trust, ambition and openness to new ideas make it possible to deliver projects that genuinely improve lives and protect the environment.
We’re proud to be part of Yorkshire’s future and excited to continue working with partners across the region to create places that inspire, perform and endure. We’d welcome the conversation to discuss how we can work together
