Supporting resident welfare through a dedicated survey programme

To support Together Housing’s commitment to invest in the wellbeing of their residents, our building consultancy team was appointed to oversee, co-ordinate and manage a series of technical reviews of their high-rise building stock.

By reviewing the remaining lifespan, condition and fire safety requirements of their estate, our client can programme future investment and effectively plan the maintenance and improvement of their buildings.

Together Housing is one of the largest housing associations in the North of England, managing over 36,000 homes in the region. As a non-profit organisation, any money they make is invested back into the company for the benefit of their residents and local communities.

In addition to providing quality homes for rent, they also build and manage homes for sale through the Shared Ownership scheme, as well as providing retirement living and Housing with Care.

A MULTIDISCIPLINARY TEAM

Working collaboratively to draw on expertise

To gain a fully comprehensive understanding of each tower block, we led a multidisciplinary team, drawing on expertise from varying fields of work. Our team included external consultants such as fire specialists, structural and MEP engineers, cost consultants and structural testing specialists.

This approach enabled us to deliver thorough reports consisting of objectives, summaries and recommendations, including cost estimates, in reference to all specialisms.

The surveys identified areas of non-compliance and poor conditions, including location of combustible cladding systems and unsafe structural elements which are assisting Together Housing in the production of their Building Safety cases as required by the Building Safety Regulator.

By strategically and stringently planning the surveys, we were able to successfully meet our client’s timescales and aspirations, whilst also minimising disruption to residents and the local community.

SPECIALIST SURVEYS

Using cutting edge technology to drive efficiency

We also worked closely with our in-house geomatic consultancy team who delivered topographical, utility and CCTV surveys, alongside the development of 3D models. Data was collected using high-tech laser scanners which, despite the height and complexity of the buildings, were able to accurately, safely and efficiently collect detailed information without the need for time consuming and expensive access equipment, such as cherry pickers or scaffolding.
