Associate Director and Chartered Building Surveyor Thomas Jones plays a key role in the successful delivery of a range of complex projects, through all RIBA stages, specialising in Fire Safety and High-Risk Buildings.
“The increasing complexity of work to High-Risk Buildings and fire safety, in general is a challenge, but it’s a challenge I enjoy and one that, as an industry, we must rise to meet. Designing buildings with wellbeing and empathy at the forefront, is key to this.”
Thomas enjoys working alongside a talented group of people at AHR, bringing together different insights, ideas, and influences. His experience spans various sectors, including residential schemes, schools and colleges, universities, transportation infrastructure and healthcare developments.
With over 15 years in the industry, he is well versed on the intricacies and requirements of the current legislative requirements such as the Building Safety Act, Building Regulations and applying these to existing buildings. Thomas’ motivation and main role is ensuring direct focus on the procedures for ensuring fire safety remain at the forefront of design and construction.
Outside of the office, Thomas is a keen researcher and absorber of knowledge – often applying that to studies of the Second World War. He also enjoys hiking in the Peak District and travelling Europe.
