Project overview

The cornerstone for future development in rail technology

The new cutting-edge rail infrastructure manufacturing, digital engineering and research and development centre, forms part of a groundbreaking investment into the next generation of Britain’s railway.

Our architectural and landscape teams are working together to design the first phase of Siemens Mobility’s future expansion plans in Chippenham. Replacing their historic railway and industrial complex, which was no longer fit for purpose, we will bring together 800 local staff into one cohesive development.

Kickstarting the next chapter in conventional and digital rail signalling and control systems, the scheme will provide manufacturing and production space, a BREEAM Excellent office, laboratories and testing areas as well as warehouses.

Supporting Siemen’s sustainability aspirations, the nature-led design takes inspiration from the health-based standards of WELL and BREEAM.

To support cross-collaboration, promoting wellbeing and fostering a sense of community, we will provide meeting spaces, relaxation areas and improved technology across all departments.

Supporting and enhancing the natural environment, our landscape design seamlessly integrates with the local area. To meet the aspiration of 10% biodiversity net gain, new trees will be planted, wildflower meadows created and wildlife habitats preserved.
