Enhancing the learning experience through high quality education facilities
To support The Sheffield College to provide state of the art teaching spaces for their students, we led the partial refurbishment of the existing Peaks Campus building including the floor, wall and ceiling finishes, as well as the fit out of an art room and an independent living training suite.
Designed for the college’s SEN students, the refurbishment has enhanced useability by providing new accessible toilets and shower rooms to each floor, alongside extensive refurbishment works to improve the existing toilets. For this comprehensive project, we provided building surveying services, as well as acting as principal designer for CDM and principal designer for building regulations.

Supporting learning in safe, accessible and nurturing spaces
The Peaks Campus includes an independent living suite, designed to enable its students to lead rich and self-directed adult lives by promoting confidence and meaningful experiences.
Mirroring a living situation to help support healthy routines and enhance wellbeing, the fit out of the suite included stripping out all existing fixtures, fittings and finishes to provide new furniture and practical equipment such as ovens, hobs and sinks.
We added new sinks and benching to the side of the art classroom, replaced lighting with LEDs, reconfigured water and drainage services and re-decorated the spaces.

Ensuring successful delivery through collaboration
We worked alongside Novo Integration, who were responsible for undertaking M&E design services for the refurbishment and remodelling works.
This included small power, lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarm modifications, ventilation, heating design, water services and above ground drainage, as well as any other necessary works.
To inform design and understand the ground conditions, our in-house geomatic consultancy team carried out topographical utility surveys at the site.
We have also been appointed as consultant building surveyors for a new extension to form an external lift shaft and provide a new fire evacuation lift within the building.
