project overview

Advanced manufacturing facility, streamlining motor production

Part of the expanding Siemens Rail Village, the Siemens Mobility Traction Drives UK and Ireland Facility represents the second phase of our advanced manufacturing masterplan. This high-performance environment streamlines operations, significantly increasing productivity and reducing downtime. Every stage of the motor manufacture, reservice, rehaul and rebuild process, is brought to one site, within the state-of-the-art facility. This ensures that Siemens’ experienced team of engineers and project managers can guarantee a quality service, drawing on innovative new technology and proven procedures covering the complete traction system. From traction converter upgrades to standardised motor and gearbox overhauls and repairs, HVAC unit overhauls and repairs and pantograph servicing and repairs.

This centre is a welcome addition to the Siemens Rail Village, a national hub for rail innovation. Building on our longstanding relationship with Siemens, we previously designed and delivered phase 1, the Siemens Mobility Train Manufacturing Facility and are currently delivering phase 3, the Siemens Bogie Service Centre, further strengthening the wider masterplan.

Staff wellbeing is prioritised throughout, contributing to to a healthier, more enjoyable and more resilient working environment. With light-filled office spaces, a variety of meeting rooms, a generous conference space, modern welfare areas, a canteen, gym and landscaped outdoor spaces, this is an environment in which staff can relax and connect.

Our design supports Siemens in their commitment to reach Net Zero by 2050. By consolidating the full motor manufacturing process on site, the need for off site outsourcing is reduced, decreasing road mileage and supporting more sustainable logistics.

Purpose-built with flexibility at its core, the development provides an adaptable and future-ready environment, enabling Siemens to expand and evolve their services as demand grows.
