Planning approved for Siemens Manufacturing, Digital Engineering and R&D Centre in Chippenham

by AHR

Siemens Mobility has received planning approval from Wiltshire Council for a new £100m cutting-edge manufacturing, digital engineering, and R&D centre in Chippenham.
This development marks a significant step towards advancing Britain’s railway infrastructure. The new facility will replace the historic Langley Park complex, uniting approximately 800 local staff across all departments into a single, state-of-the-art campus.
Kickstarting the next chapter in conventional and digital rail signalling and control systems, the complex will feature advanced manufacturing and production spaces, laboratories, and warehousing. A BREEAM Excellent-rated office will serve as the heart of the campus, fostering collaboration and promoting employee wellbeing.
Sustainable and wellbeing‑led design
The centre’s design emphasizes cross-departmental collaboration and community, incorporating flexible meeting areas, quiet relaxation zones, and upgraded technology infrastructure.
Sustainability and wellbeing are central to the project’s ethos; the landscape strategy aims for a 10% biodiversity net gain through new tree planting, creation of wildflower meadows, and preservation of existing wildlife habitats, enhancing the natural environment and providing benefits for staff wellbeing.
