Based in our Bristol office, associate Ashley Kirk is an enthusiastic architect with more than 18 years of experience delivering projects across the UK. Motivated by innovation and creativity, he combines exceptional design thinking with technical expertise, to shape projects that are both imaginative and practically grounded.

I believe great architecture comes from the intersection of bold creative thinking and technical precision. When you take time to truly understand what a project needs to achieve for the people who’ll use it, that’s when innovation becomes something meaningful.

Throughout his career, Ashley has led and played key roles across diverse sectors and project scales, from individual residential schemes to large, complex developments and urban masterplans. He is particularly passionate about designing schools and colleges that foster learning, wellbeing and community connection.

What sets Ashley apart is his ability to understand the detail that truly shapes a project for people. He takes time to listen to clients, consultants and contractors, building the strong professional relationships that form the foundation of successful delivery. This insight guides his design thinking and helps keep projects aligned with ambitions while remaining practical and flexible.

Ashley is highly skilled in digital design tools, with expertise in BIM, computational design, reality scanning and immersive design communication. He also brings a deep-seated commitment to sustainability, championing retrofit strategies, low-carbon solutions and modern construction techniques that deliver long-term value.

Away from work, Ashley enjoys being outdoors, oftentimes on a bike. You can find him enjoying a leisurely ride or competing against the nation’s best across the UK.
