We're delighted to have submitted plans for a new food store, office building and multi-storey car park at Brabazon in Bristol, marking the next step in the area’s transformation.

This latest development will bring together three key elements: a 2,900 sqm supermarket, 16,250 sqm of high quality office space and a 1,640-space multi-storey car park.

Together, they will respond to the needs of a growing community, providing everyday convenience, opportunities for businesses to grow and improved connections for everyone who lives, works or visits Brabazon.

  • The local supermarket will provide a new shopping destination that places fresh food and daily essentials within easy reach.
  • Above the store, bright and modern office space will provide businesses with an inspiring environment to grow and succeed.
  • The car park has been designed to support the supermarket, the new workplaces and the wider Brabazon site, making journeys in and around the area more efficient.

A gateway to Brabazon

As one of the first buildings visible when arriving into Brabazon from the A38, this development will help create a sense of arrival into the neighbourhood. Together with a new public square, it is designed to provide a welcoming setting and a natural starting point for many people’s journeys into Brabazon.

A coloured staircase on the north-west corner of the car park is intended to become a recognisable feature within the plot. By encouraging walking, it adds a playful element that can help make the experience of visiting Brabazon more engaging.

Our design carefully arranges the new buildings to create pedestrian connections and lively public spaces.

Together, these elements establish a vibrant gateway development, with a new public square providing a focal point for arrival and setting the tone for the wider neighbourhood.”

A landscape and public realm strategy that shapes the experience of Brabazon

Our public realm design will create a network of multi-functional pedestrian priority streets and spaces that are welcoming, connected and engaging.

Public spaces have been designed to accommodate a range of uses – from everyday pedestrian movement to more social and active activities such as cafe spill-out, outdoor seating and street food markets. The orientation and scale of new streets has been carefully considered to create a ground level experience that feels safe, open and comfortable throughout the year.

Together, this public realm design will establish a strong framework for future growth at Brabazon, while ensuring the neighbourhood offers an enjoyable, accessible and distinctive experience for everyone who lives, works or visits.

1. What is the Brabazon Food Store, Office and Multi-Storey Car Park project?

The project is a new mixed use development in Bristol’s Brabazon neighbourhood, designed by AHR. It includes a 2,900 sqm supermarket, 16,250 sqm of modern office space and a 1,640-space multi-storey car park.

2. Why is this development important for Brabazon?

It supports the transformation of Brabazon into a vibrant new community by providing essential everyday amenities, new workplaces and improved transport connections for residents, businesses and visitors.

3. How does the design support sustainability and community wellbeing?

The landscape design introduces native trees, wildflower planting and sustainable drainage systems to increase biodiversity and manage water naturally. Public squares, safe walking routes and cycle connections encourage active travel and create spaces where people can meet and enjoy the outdoors.

4. What type of businesses can the new office space accommodate?

The flexible office floors have been designed to suit a wide range of occupiers, from growing SMEs to larger headquarters, offering modern workspaces with excellent regional and national connections.

5. How will the multi-storey car park benefit the community?

The MSCP will provide 1,640 spaces to support the supermarket, offices and arena, helping manage traffic efficiently while freeing up land elsewhere in the masterplan for green spaces, homes and community facilities.

6. Will the development improve transport and accessibility?

In addition to the new MSCP, the site is well served by the MetroBus route, new pedestrian and cycle connections, and the upcoming Brabazon rail station linking to Bristol Temple Meads and London.
