The Corsham School, MUGA
Wiltshire, UK

Project overview
Supporting achievements with enhanced sports facilities
The Corsham School is a fully comprehensive, mixed 11-18 secondary school in Wiltshire. Extra-curricular sports are enjoyed by a large number of students and participation in after-school clubs is high, resulting in the school having many successes at inter-school, county and national competitions.
To support the school in increasing the opportunity for competitive and recreational sport, as well as accommodating growing pupil numbers, we were appointed to provide a new multi-use games area (MUGA), enabling more frequent sessions which are uninterrupted by weather.
We provided architectural and building surveying consultancy services, including Project Management/Employer’s Agent, Principal Designer for CDM Regulations and design, supported by a specialist sports pitch designer.
This exciting addition to our school’s facilities demonstrates our commitment to providing the best resources for our students’ physical and social development. Whether it’s a PE lesson, a friendly match, a competitive game, or social recreational activity at breaks/lunchtimes, our MUGA is the perfect place to inspire achievement and fun.”

MULTIPLE USES
Maximising existing space through thoughtful design
The new pitch has been installed over an existing tarmac tennis court and provides play areas for netball, tennis, basketball and fusball, with goal recesses to the long boundary fence to provide uninterrupted play and clear run off space. The MUGA also addresses the requirement for additional tennis courts, with previous ones lost to the construction of a new SEND building.
Through considered design and planning, the new games area is well-placed within the school campus for public use outside of school operating hours and has been designed in accordance with Sports England criteria.
Works were strategically planned and safely completed with minimal disruption to the school’s operations.
