project overview

Subway station refurbishment programme to bring calm and enjoyment back to travelling

Appointed by Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT), we refurbished 11 Glasgow subway stations. With new internal layouts designed to instil a sense of calm, the stations promote a reassuring and enjoyable passenger experience.

We stripped the stations back to basics, replacing the escalators, the entrance hall and ticket systems, incorporate new security systems, and completely renewing finishes and signage. All mechanical and electrical systems were also replaced and renewed.

The principal challenge was to tailor the design and delivery, to ensure the stations could remain open throughout and continue to serve the same high level of passenger traffic.
