THE PRACTICE HAS WORKED ON A VARIETY OF NEW BUILD, EXTENSION, AND REMODEL PROJECTS OVER MANY YEARS, INCLUDING THE CONVERSION OF 224 SAFEWAY STORES IN THE LARGEST RETAIL REMODEL PROGRAMME THE UK HAS EVER SEEN.
Three key new build store projects included Cardiff International Sports Village, Symes Avenue Bristol and Morfa Swansea.
The store at Cardiff International Sports Village formed part of an extensive regeneration programme which also included residential apartments, hotels, an international swimming pool and other retail outlets. The 83,000ft² store with 600 car parking spaces and an associated petrol filling station, was located on a very prominent position within the overall development.
The Symes Avenue store involved construction of a new 7,710m² concept supermarket. The project was phased to allow the existing retail unit tenants to continually trade within existing, or newly constructed units. Extensive public consultation was undertaken with the local community and local authority to ensure clear visibility of the project details and timescales.
The 8,100m² superstore at Landore was part of a major retail development including Swansea City’s new football stadium on a site was formally used for heavy industry and copper smelting. Careful planning and management of the groundworks enabled the majority of the contaminated material to be retained achieving a significant cost benefit to the client.
