THE NEW STUDENT SOCIAL SPACES AT UCLAN ARE A SERIES OF LIGHTWEIGHT PAVILIONS THAT HAVE BEEN INSERTED ACROSS THE UNIVERSITY CAMPUS AS PART OF THEIR 10 YEAR MASTERPLAN.
WITH APPROXIMATELY 2,000 M2 OF EXTRA INTERNAL FLOOR SPACE, THE NEW FACILITIES HAVE BEEN DESIGNED TO OPEN UP THE CAMPUS AND PROVIDE PLENTY OF FLEXIBLE BREAKOUT AND RECREATION SPACES FOR STUDENTS AND STAFF.
The Social Spaces are aimed specifically at retaining students on campus for as long as possible with designated flexible spaces that are not timetable and are available for use 24/7.
The design ensures students can reconfigure the spaces to their preferred layout using a variety of furniture solutions and can also be utilised for evening events and exhibitions. Additionally, it creates a strong sense of place and acts as a real community hub.
Featuring glass roofs and enclosed gardens, the social spaces have been created to further improve the campus experience for UCLan students and staff, encouraging them to work and socialise together in a modern and relaxed environment.
