PRINCE ALBERT
HIGH SCHOOL

  • PRINCE ALBERT SCHOOL IN BIRMINGHAM IS OUR NEW FREE SCHOOL FOR 1,260 SECONDARY SCHOOL AND SIXTH FORM STUDENTS AGED 11-19, AS PART OF THE PHASE 2 OF THE COMMONWEALTH GAMES LEGACY PROJECT MASTERPLAN IN PERRY BARR.

  • Procured through the Department of Education’s Construction Framework High Value Band and operated by the Prince Albert Community Trust, the school has been designed in response to the Trust’s homebase model, where all core classroom subjects are taught within a single classroom, and each year group classrooms located within a separate area of the school.

The design is a unique response to a constrained site, which led to us developing a bespoke superblock design. Our superblock is 4 storeys in height as opposed to the ESFA 3 storey model, to keep a compact building footprint leaving as much of the site available for external use by the pupils.

The sports is also attached to the building which saves on envelope area and keeps the area of the site taken up by the building to an absolute minimum.
