KINGSBROOK VIEW PRIMARY ACADEMY

  • KINGBSROOK VIEW PRIMARY ACADEMY IS A TWO STOREY AND TWO FORM ENTRY PRIMARY SCHOOL AND NURSERY IN THE NEW, NATURE-LED DEVELOPMENT OF KINGSBROOK OUTSIDE AYLESBURY. THE NEW PRIMARY SCHOOL PROVIDES EXCITING AND INSPIRING TEACHING AND LEARNING SPACE FOR 420 PUPILS, PLUS A 52 PLACE NURSERY AND MAXIMISES UPON ITS LOCATION TO PROVIDE DISTINCT EDUCATIONAL BENEFITS.

  • The new school reflects and responds to the surrounding naturalistic environment of Kingsbrook, which is a flagship nature-friendly development. Internally, large windows invite in generous natural light, with flexible classrooms and furniture allowing teachers to arrange the space to their requirements. The main hall has been configured to provide a versatile space capable of supporting a full range of school activity from assemblies, dining, and performance.

The overall form of the building has been simplified into a simple barn shaped entity, with the internal layout updated to suit, in order to gain reduced programme and construction efficiencies.

Externally, the defined and bold palette expresses a strong and modern design concept, responding to the strategic vision of providing high-quality, exciting and inspiring learning environments.

On site, the school also includes staff car parking and electric charging points, cycle and scooter storage, and an off-site drop off area.

  • The new school integrates sustainable design strategies at the heart of the design, including a fabric first approach to ensure the school is highly energy efficient and as self-sufficient as possible. The sustainable strategy also includes the use of a timber structurally insulated panel construction system, that provides high performance and inherently has reduced embodied carbon.

Photovoltaic panels (PVs) are located on the pitched roof providing on-site renewable energy generation.

Working closely with Buckinghamshire County Council and Inspiring Futures Partnership Trust (IFPT), the new school's design is informed by the surrounding context of Kingsbrook. As a flagship, nature-friendly development, Kingsbrook View Primary Academy complements the wildlife friendly ethos of the wider Kingsbrook scheme and seeks to ensure there is net gain for wildlife on the site.

Quality external landscaped space is prioritised, including external play areas comprising a grass playing pitch, trim trail, multi-use-games-area (MUGA), hard and soft play areas and wildlife area.

Opportunities to maximise the value offered to pupils from the location, with the inclusion of Forest School provision, offer further hands-on learning experiences for children.
