The Masterplan sought to create a high quality mixed use development site led by its core focus - high quality residences. This is to build on the site’s strong relationship with to the city centre, The Green Quarter residential development and the Manchester Arena.
The redevelopment aims to demonstrate significant economic development that compliments existing activity within the city centre.
The masterplan aimed to marry together a mix of residential, hotel, retail, leisure with a multi-storey car park and office accommodation. These blocks are arranged around a vibrant public square at the heart of the design. At key corners, taller blocks are placed, acting as a gateway into the scheme and visually drawing you through the site.
AHR developed the masterplan in close liaison with the Manchester City Council Planning Department, and together with Deloitte Planning Consultants drew up a draft Strategic Regeneration Framework document. This was then approved by the Executive Committee as relevant Planning Guidance for the site and forthcoming applications.
