Allan joined AHR in 1992 following graduation and is a Chartered Building Surveyor with a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of the profession.
Throughout his career Allan has worked across a wide range of projects for both public and private sector clients, including education, health, civic & community and telecommunications, and regularly acts in the role of Framework and Client Manager. For example, Allan serves as Framework Manager for Building Surveying Services under the YORconsult Framework, which delivers a variety of public sector projects across the Yorkshire and Humber region.
Allan is extensively involved in condition and planned maintenance surveys, repair, refurbishment, alterations and extensions for both traditional and non-traditional buildings. Our work includes evaluating existing building stock, producing proposals, offering strategic advice for future usage, maintenance and refurbishment, and advising on the best use of buildings and any available funding.
Closely involved in the education sector, Allan is a longstanding member of the AHR Education Focus Group. From working closely with academies and academy trusts, Allan has a clear understanding of the unique challenges they face, and an in-depth knowledge of the CIF application process, leading a team that has helped hundreds of academies to achieve successful CIF bids.
Allan is also a member of AHR’s Building Information Model (BIM) Strategy Group, where he has specific input into development of BIM relative to refurbishment projects and the added value this brings to clients. He also leads AHR’s Innovation Group, which includes members from different services within our practice, and meets regularly to share ideas and technology for the benefit of all our clients.
Within the Building Consultancy business, Allan also has responsibility for Health and Safety and HR.
