THE PRACTICE WAS COMMISSIONED BY LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL TO DEVELOP DESIGNS FOR A NEW BUS FACILITY THAT WILL PROVIDE ENHANCED PASSENGER WAITING FACILITIES WITHIN A LARGE ENCLOSED CONCOURSE INCLUDING TRAVEL SHOP, CONVENIENCES AND RETAIL FACILITIES.
Enhanced public realm provides good connectivity to the town centre and the adjacent shopping centre, as well as improving links to the existing railway station.
Careful material selection has been undertaken in conjunction with the Local Authority to blend the requirements for transparency and tradition within a contemporary design. Glass, natural stone and ETFE have been incorporated within the façade and roof designs to provide a high level of natural light to the centre of the concourse.
