AHR has been appointed as the architect as part of Willmott Dixon's team to design a new Net Zero Carbon special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) school in north Wiltshire, for Wiltshire Council.
The £33m new school will provide learning space for up to 400 pupils, from early years to post-16, and will apply dedicated internal research that we have developed into creating Net Zero Carbon schools.
The investment will provide state-of-the-art learning facilities for SEND pupils in north Wiltshire by bringing Larkrise, St Nicholas and Rowdeford schools together as one maintained school over three sites.
The new facilities will operate as a “school within a school”, involving a community of small teaching clusters that will provide a range of specialist teaching spaces, therapeutic support, and quiet dining.
Each cluster will offer plenty of space to move around while maximising natural daylighting and ventilation to create an airy feel. The school is scheduled to complete by September 2023.
We are proud of our award-winning and shortlisted projects throughout 2020 and 2021. Even with all the challenges the year has given us, our teams have continued to create fantastic work across the region and beyond for our clients. We're pleased that so many of our projects have been recognised for awards.
