SPECIFICATION & DELIVERABLES
WHILST THE SCAN TO BIM PROCEDURE GIVES A LARGE AMOUNT OF FLEXIBILITY, IT IS STILL IMPORTANT THAT A SOLID UNDERSTANDING OF THE CLIENT'S EXPECTATIONS IS ACHIEVED AT THE OUTSET.
Close links with the Survey Association, Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and knowledge of the latest BIM standards has allowed us to build up a comprehensive specification of elements to allow clients to clearly define their level of required information from the Scan to BIM process.
This specification is supplemented by an extract from a Revit survey model illustrating the various levels of maturity that maybe requested. This can be broken down as follows:
The Laser Scan Data
This is a valuable resource in its own right. In the first instance it is an accurate 3D representation of the building and will aid in visualising the project. As all the data within the point cloud is spatially correct dimensional information can be extracted direct from it. We have the capabilities to re-process the data so that it may be moved into Revit for comparison to as built models or provide background information for alterations or refurbishment.
The Building Information Model is our most comprehensive survey model available. It is built entirely within the Revit environment which contains the level of data and intelligence defined by the client. This information may allow you to quantify any element of interest, be it the area of a room or the cost of replacing the brickwork. AHR models can also be orientated to true Ordnance Survey grid allowing you to use the full functionality of Revit.
AHR Digital Portal (ADP)
At the time of scanning the survey instrument may take digital images to form a spherical photograph of all it can see. These photographs can be viewed through the ADP via a secure web connection. Embedded within the photographs is the scan data which will allow you to extract dimensions and area values directly from them. This is a very powerful tool as it allows remote access to all the survey data.
