THE UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL LANCASHIRE (UCLAN) IN PRESTON HAS SELECTED AHR TO DESIGN ITS PLANNED STUDENT SOCIAL SPACES. WE WILL HEAD UP A 13-STRONG DESIGN TEAM ESTABLISHED TO ENSURE INPUT AND OWNERSHIP FROM THE PEOPLE WHO WILL USE THE SPACES, AS WELL AS THOSE WHO WILL MANAGE AND RUN THE FACILITIES.
Part of UCLan’s £200million Masterplan (which is being rolled out over the next 10 years), the new social spaces are expected to be complete early 2018. Their purpose is to further improve the campus experience for students, encouraging people to remain there longer.
Key design features will include glass roofs and an indoor hidden garden, as well as moveable furniture so students can reconfigure the space to suit their needs.
