RESEARCH & TEACHING LABORATORIES, UNIVERSITY OF GLASGOW

  • THE PRACTICE COMPLETED WORK IN THE A LISTED JOSEPH BLACK BUILDING FOR THE FORMATION OF NEW RESEARCH AND TEACHING LABORATORIES AT THE UNIVERSITY OF GLASGOW.
  • The teaching labs form a high quality undergraduate teaching space within the Chemistry Department for 100 students, upgrading the existing low grade research labs. The Practice developed the project from feasibility to site completion, which involved negotiations with Planning and Historic Scotland.

These projects presented numerous challenges, not least those of dealing with several academic end users, complex interlinked moves and an existing A Listed building. The primary challenge has been to produce a world class teaching and research establishment within an antiquated building. The project was successfully completed on time and within budget and is one of several projects for the University.
