AHR IS DESIGNING THE REDEVELOPMENT OF THE FORMER QUEENS GARDENS POLICE STATION THAT WILL SEE THE BUILDING CONVERTED INTO 94 NEW APARTMENTS CONSISTING OF 1 BED, 2 BED, 3 BED AND 2/3 BED DUPLEX APARTMENTS.
Queens Gardens Apartments will provide luxury city centre living in the heart of Queens Gardens, Hull City Centre. The apartments provide a range of leisure and lifestyle facilities such as a private cinema room, an on-site gym and a communal courtyard with parking facilities. The duplex apartments are all designed with access to private terraces. All apartments have been designed as dual aspect apartments with views to both the north and south setting of Queens Gardens.
The redevelopment of the site plays a critical role in extending the quality of the Georgian New Town Quarter in the city centre. The design aims to create a sense of place and delight through the architectural expression and choice of materials. The existing stone columns are to be re-clad to articulate the main elevation and glazing is set back to achieve an articulated opening with infill cladding and living green walls. Glazed balconies are proposed to provide visual variety across the facades. The main entrance from Queens Dock Avenue provides a fully glazed main entrance, allowing views through the main entrance to the rear communal landscape area. Queens Dock Avenue is also proposed to be fully pedestrianised to link the development to the green setting of Queens Gardens.
