THE DAVID LIVINGSTONE MEMORIAL PRIMARY SCHOOL ENJOYS AN ELEVATED POSITION WITHIN BLANTYRE IN SOUTH LANARKSHIRE. THE SCHOOL IS DESIGNED TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF ITS SOUTH FACING ASPECT, ORGANISED AROUND A CENTRAL LANDSCAPED COURTYARD.
The simple but strong palette of materials has been used with facing brick throughout and vertical cedar cladding. Large vertical windows have been used to maximise natural light and provide the classrooms with natural ventilation. An extended canopy with columns around the building and courtyard provides opportunities for external learning and play.
