AHR’s Graduate Landscape Architect, Anca Panait took part in the RHS Young Designer of the Year competition at this year’s RHS Flower Show Tatton Park.
Anca was awarded a Silver-gilt for her office garden, entitled Prospect and Refuge. Her garden addressed the environmental requirements of an outdoor working space and was inspired by the naturalistic qualities of a woodland.
Lush and calming perennials were planted to encourage a dialogue between nature and people. Woodland planting around its edges created a sense of enclosure and escape from the outside world. Communal working desks and informal lounge seating areas combined to create a warm, natural ambience and an aesthetically attractive space.
The garden took two weeks to complete where Anca and her team worked continuously. All plants used in the project have been donated to Wythenshawe Hospital's, Opal House Elderly Care Unit, for planting in their new dementia unit's garden. Anca is certainly a credit to the team. Congratulations Anca!
